There are both positve and negativ sides to relying more on your intellect than you emotions. If you rely on your intellect, then you will do what is best for you rather than what you feel for other people. However, if you alwys rely on your intellect you could come off to be a cold hearted person. It is important to have a steady balance between the two in order to make descions. That way you'll do something that's good for you and that makes you happy.

I would said relying on your intellect decision is always the right thing. But that doesn't mean emotion not important. When intellect and emotion has conflict, that makes people hard to decide which one is better. Relying more on your intellect,in a positive way is your mind will follow the justice, you know what is right to do. In a negative way is that you will lose many emotions those you think is important to you, like love between you and other people.

A person governed more by intellectual decisions than by emotional decisions is the President of the United States. The President has to do what is best for the country, and cannot let his emotions get in the way. There are both positive and negative consequences for relying more on your intellect than your emotions. To accomplish goals, it is important to not let emotions get in the way. If you have a desire for something, go for it and do not let your emotions for other people stop you. Even though it's important to stay focused and think things through, totally disregarding people's feelings is not the best move to make either. You can push friends away and become lonely in the long run. You have to do what's best for you, but also keep others in mind.

Kids are always taught when they are little to not let emotion to take over your decisions but to be governed by intellectual decisions. This can go either in the positive side or the negative side. The positive side is that people could believe that you hold a strong standing in the decision when you maintain it intellectually. The negative part of it though is how people will feel about the intelligent decisions. When a person makes an intelligent decision, it may make that person seem indifferent or rude. If they do not put any emotion in a problem, other people will form that opinion. This is because they would assume that maybe that one decision should involve emotion.

Someone that is governed more by intellectual decisions than emotional decisions would be a scientist, or an engineer of some sort. That field of work involves special attention to detail and extensive reliance on intellect. In any person, intellectual decisions are important, but relying solely on that part of your brain can lead to many negative consequences. They will probably become less sociable and close to family and friends. They will probably not experience true happiness and become too involved in their own mind. One positive ramification is that you will always be alert and think through your actions. However, if there is never any emotional input, that person's life is going to be lonely and quite miserable on the whole.

One who is governed more by intellectual decisions more so than emotional would do everything based on logic and fact without regard to feelings, personal or external. The positive effects of such decision making would be that everything would be done efficiently without distraction, however disregarding emotions could allow for all sorts of bad things, for one's gut feeling is that best instinct they have.

I agree with Julie. Intellectual is useful when you are in a situation that emotion has no time to step in. When emotion is shown in a professional environment and dealing with a situation, emotion will show weakness and surrender, and also is asking for sympathy rather than help. Intellect fits in because you know the problem and how to fix it and know how to HANDLE it. Crying and anger shows that you cannot handle the pressure. For example, Senator Hillary Clinton. When she won the election vote for one of the northern states, she shed a tear in front of people and cameras. Yes, that shows joy and relief, but also emotion in an election time when the country is in a crisis is not appropriate. It could have also shown pressure that she will have to work harder now to compete with O'Bama.

A doctor is a person who must rely on intellectual decisions instead of emotional decisions. A doctor might have to make a vital decision best for a patient: for example, performing an amputation on a cancer patient. The doctor must avoid his initial emotional response of sympathy for the patient not living a fulfilled lifestyle without a limb, and instead figure that an amputation will overall benefit a patient’s health. The positive consequence, if the patient complies, is that the doctor has done his job and has prolonged his patient’s expected lifetime. The negative consequence is that somewhere in the back of his mind, he knows that the inevitable amputation has prevented the happiness of another.

No person is truly able to ignore emotions and use only their intellect for making decisions. This is a terrible weakness of the human race. I try to use my intellect more than emotions when I make decisions but I am not always successful. There are be numerous benefits to using mainly your intellect to make decisions. These benefits include becoming rich and powerful, watching as someone else’s hopes and dreams are crushed as a result of a beneficial action for yourself, and the simple joy of knowing that all of your actions are to your benefit. There are no negatives to mainly intellect to make decisions. What some people view as negative results are actually positive results. For instance, becoming less sociable, losing “friends”, and being seen as cold hearted is a great benefit as the incompetent imbeciles who would otherwise have constantly bothered and distracted the intelligent individual will now leave that superior person alone.

Just to make something clear: Nathaniel and I are fairly similar and approve of each other as a canidate for world co-rulers, but we have many drastically different views. In short, I do not hold to many of his more harsh ideas. However, I must agree with Nathaniel that it is vitally important to let your intellect guide your decisions. If you have proper control over your mind then you should be able to reconcile your intellect and emotions, with the intellect being the greater of the two. This keeps your mistakes at a minimum. All situations should first be viewed apatheticly, not letting any emotions wheigh in on your conclusions. Only then should you consider emotions, reaching an acceptable reconciliation between the two.

Most of the best examples have already been said, so I'm gonna copy Grace because I just wish I could've been cool enough to think of doctors myself. It is important for doctors to make decisions based on their intellect rather than allow their emotions to guide them. Doctors should make decisions based on what would most benefit their patients' health rather than allow themselves to become emotionally attatched to their patients. Patients' health may suffer if doctors allow their emotions to interfere with their work.

A person who is governed by intellectual decisions is often involved in intensive study in which it is important not to get emotionally involved, such as doctors and scientists. It is important for these people to keep their feelings out of their professions to save themselves heartache. Being governed by intellectual decisions allows an individual to be more deeply involved with their work and study. This can also lead to negative consequences, because while becoming more involved with work, a person often forgets the other things in their life, such as family, friends, and other interests. It is healthy and beneficial to be governed both by intellectual and emotional decisions in life.

A person who is governed more by intellectual desire bases their decisions more on reality instead of allowing their emotions to drive them to make a decision. They often make decisions to protect other people such as Frankenstein did when debating whether to make another creature, rather than make decisions based on their own emotional state or wants. The positive sides of relying more on intellect rather than emotions is the fact that it is most the time the smarter decision but the negative side is that it will always have a bad reprecussion on someone, because someone will have to take the hurt, such as Victor. This reminds me of the movie I Robot with Will smith in it when he is talking about the accident he got in and how the robot saw and came and saved him but left the little girl and she drowned (his car hit another and they both went off a bridge into the water). What happened was the robot had to make a decision either to save him or the little girl and since robots are designed soley on intellect the robot calculated that he had a higher chance of survival than the girl and so he saved Will Smith instead of the little girl. Will Smith made the point in that movie that any normal human would have saved the girl instead but the robot couldn't have that opportunity because he only used intellect to make decisions; that just reminded me of this sceneand is a good example of intellect of emotion.

A person who is governed more by intellectual decisions are governed by reality than what their heart tells them to do. There are positive and negative consequences to relying on you intellect than your emotions. If you rely on your intellect, than you are able to make decisions without your heart or your feelings for other people getting in the way of those decisions. You could seem a little cold if you shut out all of what your heart tells you, you will shut out everyone you care about in your life. You will isolate yourself, just like Victor Frankenstein did in the novel.
